I have to say that Resto Shaman is a very strong healer – if played and geared correctly.

At the moment gear wise you should reforge Crit and Mastery to HASTE.  On Crit and Haste items you should reforge the CRIT to SPI.
Gem wise should be INT (Red Sockets) and INT+SPI (Blue Sockets) and INT+Haste (Yellow Sockets) with INT in Prismatic Sockets.

Generally speaking it’s impossible for me to OOM on Halfus, Magmaw and Omnitron.  This is using the Telluric Currents talent, on Magmaw for example its VERY easy for me to regain in excess for 175k mana per “exposed” phase, meaning I can spam until the point of OOM, regen and spam again.  Halfus for example has a static increased dmg debuf which means I can again bolt for over 10k mana back from a crit – this is like 20k mp5.   Omnitron you have the puddles that increase your DMG (and give shitty mana regen) bolting in those gives you a good 7-9k mana backk too!

Of course we have to be efficient healers on the rest of the bosses, and any boss fight that’s constant moving is a really bad fight for us!

I will write articles on “hows best to heal” various raid bosses, and what the “Best Spec” I think is for that fight.

Resto shaman is very powerful in ideal raid healing situations at the moment, although Paladins and Holy Priests still continues to rape the meters.  An example is my Holy Pala in 324 equipped, doing 12k HPS Overall on Halfus 10 – this isn’t even fully gemmed or enchanted!

Fingers crossed in time to come shamans will be buffed, or gear will level the healing out – though I doubt it.

Rankings are based on the following priorities:

1) Elemental Mastery used as often as possible
2) Flame Shock dot is kept up
3) Lava Burst
4) Searing Totem
5) Earth Shock with 6 or greater charges of Lightning Shield
6) Lightning Bolt

Flametongue Weapon imbued
Lightning Shield is kept up

Now for my hate rants regarding changes to the Elemental Shaman Tree:

Earthquake – Now yes it’s a form of elemental thing, but physical damage? Sort of WTF here? Something I’d expect to see in the enhancement tree.

Earth Shock – Becoming trendy again, shame it’s not a interupt like in Vanilla, would have owned then, I see some massive Earth Shocks inc! and possible PVP whine!

Acuity – ….sad, that’s 2% crit dropped.

Elemental Precision – …Shaman back on spirit gear now? What the fuck!

Wrath – Well I quite like that, was quite useless with a lock in the raid but 10% scaling.. well that’s of interest.

Elemental Mastery – EPIC, I love it!
Chain Lightning is now pretty useless, for single target DPS atleast it would be a massive loss, any more than 6 Lightning Shields would cause more damage than a bolt* so 9 will look to cause insane damage!  Basically Flame Shock, LvB, Bolt till you’re high stacks with shield and Earth Shock.  Actually making the Rotation abit more interesting.

Ebaying retard socials will love it, I for one think it’s ruined the game, having said that… there was alotttaaaa useless unused talents.

I’ve been mostly playing a resto druid these past months and leveling soon to be my 9th 80, a Paladin.

Whilst there are a few specs for each class up and about nothing is for certain at the moment and no doubt in true blizard style there will be an absolute shitload of “balancing” and “tweaking” to be made.

For that very reason I will NOT be updating the specs and glyphs.
An example of what’s new for Elemental Shaman is to be using Lightning Shield instead of Watersheild, I think this is one of those moronic switches by Blizzard so that “DPS” Shaman use Lightning Shield and “Healing” Shaman use Water Shield, it would make sense but Blizzard never generally do

The restoration tree focuses on the shaman’s healing capability, reducing the casting time and mana cost of healing spells, while increasing their effectiveness. Restoration shamans are well suited for any healing situation in the game. On top of that they offer good utility (like Mana Regeneration by Mana Tide Totem), and the best multi-target heal spell in the game (Chain Heal), giving them excellent potential as raid-wide healers. The 41 point talent Earth Shield acts as a very mana-efficient single-target HoT with a long duration. The 51 point talent, Riptide give the shaman an instant cast heal and a HoT.

By spending talent points in enhancement, a shaman greatly increases melee damage output. This is a very appealing tree to lower-level shamans because dealing melee damage does not cost mana. At level 40, the Dual Wield weapon skill can be learned. Together with the powerful Windfury Weapon buff, an enhancement shaman’s melee damage output is second only to rogues and retribution paladins. Additionally, with their 51 point talent, Feral Spirit, enhancement shamans can quickly destroy small groups of enemies while soloing and bring an impressive amount of DPS to raids.

Elemental Shaman PVE Spec

The elemental tree focuses on the shaman’s offensive spell casting ability. It decreases the mana cost and casting time of spells while increasing their damage and critical strike chance. The 31 point ability is Elemental Mastery, a self buff usable every three minutes that gives you a 15% increase to haste lasting for 15 seconds. The 41 point talent is Totem of Wrath, which increases the raid’s spell power, and makes any enemies in its radius more likely to be critically hit. The 51 point talent is Thunderstorm giving elemental a AOE that can throw opponents.
